Details: Working with a pre-fired 8" tile, students will learn how to apply post-firing colorants to bring their Hosta themed tiles to life! Mark & Becky (aka Stone Garden Pottery LLC) will create and fire the tiles in their kiln ahead of time, and provide the materials needed to add beautiful color to these tiles, which are suitable for hanging, table-top display, or for use as a trivet. No prior art training is required, to have a successful result with this creative project.

Details: This in depth and well prepared presentation will help you learn the symptoms of Hosta Virus X with hundreds of pictures in various cultivars, showing the vast differences of symptoms in different hostas. Also learn the important steps to prevent getting plants with HVX, prevent spreading it in your garden, plus learn what to do if you already have an HVX infected plant in your garden.

Class ID: 2014 Title: Boxwood: Selection, care, pruning/training & more!
Details: There are hundreds of varieties of boxwood that have been selected over the years, but only a handful are available to the public. This talk will introduce you to some of the best of those cultivars and how they can best be used in your garden. I will also talk more indepth about proper boxwood care and pruning. Lastly I will touch on some fun and out of the ordinary uses of boxwood such as topiary & bonsai. Topiary is quite popular in Europe but not so much here. Boxwood make excellent topiary specimens. I will discuss how you can create your own topiary for formality, fun & wimsy in your garden.
