Details: Did you know that boxwood prefer a bit of shade? How about being deer proof? Boxwood are also very hardy and drought resistant once established. Many dismiss boxwood as being "to formal" or "to much maintenance" for their gardens. But actually boxwood can be used informally and be "no maintenance" plants if used properly. There are hundreds of varieties of boxwood. Some are very small and slow growing, some have naturally columner or pyramidal growth habits while others grow quite large. There are variegated boxwood, yellow leaved varieties and some with blue new growth. I will try to change some misconceptions that people commonly have of the plant, expand your knowledge and help you to better appreciate how boxwood might fit into your garden.
